The stories of transformation within Nomadic and Denotified communities are often overlooked, yet powerful change is emerging from within. Young people are stepping into leadership, women are raising their voices, and communities like the Ghisadi Samaj continue their struggle for dignity, equality, identity, and rights. Earlier this week, Anubhuti Founder-Director Deepa Pawar participated as a keynote speaker at an awareness programme organized by the Ghisadi Samaj Sanghatana, Satara, on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti. Advocate Pooja Pawar-Salunkhe spoke on women’s legal rights, while medical student Shraddha Salunkhe shared important health-related information. During her address, Deepa Pawar discussed the political, social, cultural, and administrative realities of Nomadic, Denotified, Semi-Nomadic, and Ghisadi communities. She highlighted concerns such as the absence of a separate census, lack of protection under the Atrocities Act, inadequate budgetary provisions, and continuing policy neglect. She also emphasized the importance of preserving community languages, cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and identity. Speaking about youth and women, she stressed that sustainable social transformation depends on education, leadership opportunities, skill development, gender equality, and participation in decision-making. Development remains incomplete unless people can live with dignity, justice, and freedom from discrimination and violence. The interaction also focused on issues such as the absence of separate NCRB data for NT-DNT communities, continuing social stigma, and the need for stronger community organization, collective leadership, women’s participation, and youth engagement. A particularly inspiring moment was the recognition of accomplished women from the community, reflecting a growing commitment to women’s leadership and representation. On this occasion, Anubhuti Trust distributed a complete community kitchen set capable of serving approximately 350 people to the Ghisadi Samaj Sanghatana, Satara. The facility will be available free of cost for social, cultural, and family events, benefiting families across the district and strengthening community-owned resources. The programme was a meaningful step toward advancing dignity, justice, equality, cultural pride, and leadership within Nomadic and Denotified communities, while renewing collective hope for a more inclusive and empowered future.
