On occasion of Shiv Jayanti (birth anniversary of the great progressive king Shivaji Maharaj), it was really inspiring to see over 50 women from 5 different communities – including from NT-DNT, Adivasi and rural, who came together to understand about Shivaji Maharaj and his feminist, democratic, egalitarian history.

Games, reading, studying, discussions took place through the day where the women took efforts to understand true events from his life that showed his respect for women, his connection and love for farmers and workers, a variety of grassroot leaders in his army and core team – including from the oppressed castes and Muslims.

Experiences gained in workshops such as these strengthen our belief and vision of the intellectual, ideological, cultural, educational leadership of grassroot women. These women had asked for books to study – in the last workshop with them during Savitri Jayanti, so Anubhuti remembered to keep enough books for all which were distributed after the workshop.
