This Niruti group of nomadic, denotified, and Adivasi women meets regularly. More than 500 women from Thane district are members of this group. Alongside managing their own work and responsibilities, they regularly come together for collective discussions based on social, economic, political, and cultural awareness.
This time, the topic was: as important group leaders, how are we going to shape our role for our youth? Especially, what steps will we take to ensure the safety, career, dignity, and leadership of our daughters, and to make full use of constitutional rights and opportunities?
How will issues like child marriage, social security, decision-making, resistance, and our place in the country be addressed? How will our daughters and youth contribute to this?
In short, as citizens, how will we and our next generation move forward—from our homes to the nation? We will walk this journey together. With thoughtful planning, vision, and values in our hands, we will move ahead—ensuring that our daughters are not left behind.
This process of reflection and planning was very meaningful. More than 150 working women from over 15 different castes and tribes across Thane district come together in this collective.
